Playoff Format: None - scores are not recorded, no standings are kept
Awards: All players receive participation pictures, distributed at the October U8 Coach meeting where player rating forms must be turned in. Qualifying teams receive trophies based on referee service points.

Shoot-out Competition (U10-U14): (^TOP)

Format: After each pool play game during the Regional Tournament a shoot-out will take place.
Points: Same 10 point system is used in the shoot-out as is used for any regular pool play game.  The only difference is that there must be a winner in a shoot-out.  There cannot be a draw.
Procedure: Each team takes 5 shots from the penalty mark, alternating. If still tied after 5 shots, each team continues to take shots from the penalty mark until one team misses and the other does not.

1 Pool Divisions:

Winner of pool is Champion.  In the case of a tie, a shoot-out between the tied teams will determine which team wins.

2 or 3 Pool Divisions:

Top four teams compete in Semi-final and Championship shoot-outs.  In the case of a tie, a shoot-out between the tied teams will determine which team advances.  For Semi-final and Championship shoot-outs, the shoot-out is over after all players shoot in order of jersey #.   A minimum of 9 or 11 players (U10 or U12/U14, respectively) must participate.  Players may rotate through the line-up again after the required minimum number of players have taken a shot from the penalty mark in the case that one team has more players than the other or the shoot-out is still a tie.  If a team has less than 9 or 11, respectively, those missing players are counted as misses.  If a tie after all players have shot, players rotate through the line-up again until one team misses and the other team does not.

California Style Shoot-out:

  • After regulation play, teams given 5 minutes rest
  • Winner of coin toss decides which goal to attack
  • All players return except goal keepers (10v10 for U12 or 8v8 for U10)
  • Players play for 5 minutes without goal keepers
  • First team to score wins (golden goal / sudden death) - play continues until a goal is scored
  • After 5 minutes 2 players from each team are removed
  • Play resumes for 5 more minutes after which 2 more players are removed
  • This continues until only 4 players from each team remain at which time the offside law is no longer applicable - no more players are removed
  • In case of a Penalty, one of the players may act as the goal keeper and use their hands until the ball is put back into play (in the case that the shot is saved by the goal keeper)
